Studies of spinal manipulation often appear
to be contradictory; some studies are supportive while others are less
so. This contrast often creates confusion for practitioners, policymakers
and the public when attempting to understand the role of manipulation
in health care. The goal of this Featured Discussion Session
is to bring a measure of clarity to this issue by presenting, and then
debating, recent scientific studies that outline the benefits and risks
of manipulation.
Spinal manipulation is being employed by a greater
variety of professionals. Achieving an informed understanding of its
impact is of critical importance to those who administer and receive
this increasingly applied therapy.
